Authors Guidelines

High Quality Case Publishing

We have made it easy to publish your high quality cases and videos open-access. Submit your step-by-step procedures in Plastic, Breast & Reconstructive Surgery here.

Our Journal of Plastic, Breast and Reconstructive Surgery (JPBRS) is created by Specialist Plastic Surgeons from Denmark, Sweden, the Czech Republic, England, Germany and Switzerland.

All high quality cases related to Plastic, Breast & Reconstructive Surgery are invited for publication. 

 

Journal Focus

We focus on publishing cases showing step-by-step procedures in Plastic, Breast & Reconstructive Surgery. Publish your innovative surgical techniques, or how you perform a specific procedure. 

We may also publish cases of unique medical and surgical interest related to Plastic, Breast & Reconstructive Surgery. 

 

Editorial Board Policy

We invite surgeons from all over the world to submit high quality cases to JPBRS. Only cases written in English are accepted for publication. The text must be clear and logical.

Our Editorial board and reviewers emphazise the following when reviewing: High Quality of photos/videos. High Quality of written text in English. Logical clinical pre-operative considerations. Result of final solution of the case. Reproductibility of the case following step-by-step. Quality of references, pearls and pitfalls. Overall presentation and mediation of the case.

Editors and Reviewers may give recommendations and corrections to authors which mu be re-written by the authors, so the case will be accepted for publication in JPBRS. 

The Editors reserves the right to make editorial changes and accepted articles may be subject to further copy-editing to conform to journal style.

All submitted cases will at first be assessed by the editor. Papers suitable for JPBRS are then sent anonymised to minimum two independent reviewers for assessment. The Editors are responsible for the final decision regarding acceptance or rejection of articles.  

Policy for Reviewers

We believe that Reviewers must get paid for their work as peer-reviewers. Therefore a part of the article processing cost (APC) will go directly to the reviewers.

All peer-review is anonymous. The reviewers will be able to give valuable inputs and corrections, so the case will be published.

 

Ethical Aspects

Any result or procedures on human and/or animals must live up to International standard care.

 

Publish requirements and limitations

Abstract

An abstract of between 100 – 300 words must submitted. This abstract may be used for publishing on the frontpage or any other media.

Photos

High Quality photos are preferred. Photos of the procedure should be taken with the assistance of good light and from the same angles if possible. Resolution must be at least 300 pixels and at least the size 100 x 100 mm. At least 5 photos must be submitted. This included a before photo, pre-operative photos, and a follow-up photo.

Illustrations

High Quality photos are preferred. Resolution must be at least 300 pixels and at least the size 100 x 100 mm.

References

All cases must have at least one reference. References are written as “Publication name”, “Author names and affiliations”, “Doi-number”.

 

Article Processing Cost (APC)

If the case is accepted for publication after peer-review, the cost of open-access publication in JPBPRS is 300 dollars per case. The article processing cost fund the running JPBRS and to pay reviewers for their job as peer-reviewers.

 

Copyright

At JPBRS we share the copyright between you as author and our journal. Therefore the author is allowed to use photos and videos for example educational content without our permission.

 

Use of cases for learning Platform

We believe that published cases should be used for educational purposes. Therefore your case may be used on the learning platform called www.PlastSurgeon.org with more than 100.000 yearly visitors. Thereby your case and knowledge will used to help patients around the world, anytime-anywhere.
